CHA was originally established in 1988 and was first known as the Australian Association of Paediatric Teaching Centres (AAPTC).  In 2000 it changed its name to Children's Hospitals Australasia (CHA), as well as changing its corporate structure to become a company limited by guarantee. The change in name also reflected the desire to be inclusive of all children's hospitals and paediatric units both in Australia and New Zealand.

Governance

CHA is a public, not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee. It is governed by  a Board of Directors. It is a representative Board with Directors representing the different membership categories. In addition a number of invited Board observers attend the Board meetings.
