CHA Medal of Distinction

The CHA Medal of Distinction was established by Children's Hospitals Australasia (CHA) in 2004. The Medal of Distinction is awarded at the AGM and is intended to honour those individuals who make an outstanding contribution to improving the health of infants and children through service provision, leadership or advocacy. It may be awarded both to individuals directly affiliated with CHA and also to members of the broader community who, through their exceptional endeavours, contribute to significant improvements in child health.

For those directly affiliated with CHA, the criteria for awarding the Medal of Distinction include a significant period of service to CHA and/or sustained leadership and advocacy for child health. It is not awarded for long service but, rather, for exceptional and meritorious service. For members of the broader community, the criterion is recognition at a national level for leadership and advocacy for child health.

Each year, the Chief Executive consults with the President and Directors of CHA for nominations and the Medal is awarded at the CHA Annual Conference. Ordinarily one Medal will be awarded each year. However, on occasion, the organisation may decide to award more than one Medal in a given year or, alternatively, to award none. All decisions with respect to recipients of the award are made by the President of CHA in consultation with the Board of Directors.
